Frequently asked Questions

  • Can I use the Neptune as an audible altimeter & a visual altimeter at the same time?

The Neptune is designed to be used as either an audible altimeter or a visual altimeter, but not both at the same time.

  • Can I use a Neptune for balloon / helicopter / wingsuit / CReW / swooping / other jumps?

Yes, your Neptune can handle almost any type of skydive you can think of. There are no separate modes to set or remember. The Neptune will figure out what kind of jump you are doing and react & log accordingly.

  • What does it mean that you can update Neptune software? Why is this a big deal

In short, free software updates mean you get the equivalent of a new Neptune every time we come up with a new feature.

When you buy electronics, you are buying two things: hardware (the physical thing) and software (what it does and how it does it). The latest, greatest, most advanced personal computer with no operating system and no programs is just an expensive paperweight!

The Neptune is no different; when you buy a Neptune, you are paying for both the physical parts and the software that makes it do all the great things it does.

We can make the Neptune change how it does things, add new features (like Swoop Mode, which we pioneered and released in 2004) and remove things people don't like (like max speed, which was removed by popular demand in 2003).

If a device's software is not updateable, you have to buy an entirely new unit every time a feature is changed. With the Neptune, you get the new features on your old Neptune for FREE.
